The Living Ministry




Though Reverend Beverly Powers is a licensed Christian minister, she is also a romantic, with a background in the entertainment industry, making it imperative she have a memorable script for the weddings.


She has appeared in more than 70 Red Skelton TV shows, three Elvis Presley movies and co-starred in two television series. Her greatest role however, other than being a mother and grandmother, she says came in 1986 when she was ordained a minister. Then in ’87 she moved from Southern California to Maui and founded The Living Ministry, The Photo Ministry, and A Wedding Just For Two.




For five years she has pastored at the Sheraton-Maui Resort in Kaanapali; co-pastored at The Lahuiokalani Congregational Church in West Maui for six years. Since 2005 she has pastored at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel doing non-denominational church services every Sunday morning for those who visit Maui. She is also one of the chaplains at Maui Memorial Hospital. In addition to performing  hundreds of baptisms she has performed more than 2,400 weddings and vow renewals to date. Her first book, Passing the Baton of Light, is to be publish
ed soon.

The Living Ministry is a non-denominational, non-profit ministry, whose purpose is to spread God’s Light to the far corners of the world through the services it offers to visitors and residents alike. Being a grass root ministry in Maui, it supports those in crisis, along with assisting Maui’s Women Helping Women, Feed My Sheep and Prison Ministry. It participates with missions in Haiti, Sudan and various children funds around the world.

A Wedding Just For Two was created to be the financial arm for The Living Ministry. All donations are a blessing and help support the ministry whose purpose is to cater to the spiritual needs of the visitors of Maui. Donations are tax-deductible and gratefully received.
